Although Bahasa Malaysia is the medium of instruction for KBSR (Primary) and KBSM (Secondary) classes, the emphasis on English Language is maintained. Many of the students at Lodge School aim to go overseas to further their studies. Therefore it is necessary to maintain a high standard of English in the school to meet that need.
The Lodge School's English Language Enrichment programme involves extended teaching hours on the subject. It allows children to derive maximum benefit from the opportunities offered by the school for speaking, listening, reading and writing English. The programme covers all aspects of language learning necessary to develop confidence and familiarity in the English Language, from study skills to poetry reading and writing, from creative writing to note taking and from cloze procedure to high level reading skills. Project work is an important and integral part of this enrichment programme for all levels. For example, Primary 1,2 and 3 project work involves the Study and observing of the "World Around Us", through which the children develop an awareness of the language involved in such topics as 'water', 'air', 'shopping', 'shape', 'materials', etc.
