THE SCHOOL HISTORY
The Lodge Preparatory School and Kindergarten was founded in 1953 to serve
the growing number of expatriate families in Kuching. Over the years,
it has gradually expanded to take in local children as well.
It is now the leading private school in Sarawak. English was the medium of
instruction for the whole school until 1985 when the Bahasa Malaysia
stream was introduced in line with the National Education Policy. At present
the school operates under three categories :
- English medium Secondary, Primary and Kindergarten classes
- Bahasa Malaysia medium Primary classes and
- Bahasa Malaysia medium Secondary classes.
In September 1985, the school moved into its own building in Tabuan Jaya
which is now the Junior School. The increase in the school
population necessitates the building of a new extension at Tabuan
Desa - 5 minutes drive from the Junior School. The Senior School (Primary 4
upwards) moved into the new premises in August 1994. From the two
locations and with improved facilities, the school continues to offer quality
education with a full range of activities to cater for students particularly
those who intend to pursue their secondary and tertiary education overseas
and for those who come from overseas.
The school has been beautifully designed with attractive modern classrooms
and laboratories. Central to the school is the library and
information centre well stocked with books and reference materials.
There are other special rooms for Art, computer, music, home economics,
living skills and audio visual.
